I have a container with four colors of cards and a treat. I scatter the cards out in groups according to color and the child gets to choose which color to do first, and what order to do those cards in. That way it feels like they get to be in charge instead of me telling them what to do. They do have to complete one color before moving on to the next.
The Pink cards are the new songs/scales they are learning. They play these songs 5 times each. There are also fun cards that give them a break.
The Yellow cards are tasks they can do on their own, with no help from mom.
We use the Green and Orange cards at the same time. The Green cards are review songs/scales. They have these memorized and mastered. Orange cards are principle cards. These are things they need to work on, like their form. They choose one orange and one green card and practice them together. Since they have mastered the review songs, they don't have to concentrate on anything except improving their form. I have them practice these 3 times each. At the end of practice time, they get the treat.
What a terrific idea! Thanks for sharing it with us!
